Remembered another one.

She parked her car illegally in central London because she wanted to park right outside a designer shop, and when the parking warden approached her, she called a tax payer funded protection officer to send the warden away  Connie

The most shocking about this, beside her refusal to obey the laws like other citizens, is that she wasn't even a member of the royal family when this happened!

"How dare he come near MY (freebie from Audi) car!"

"Servant, get RID of that ghastly man!"

It doesn't matter whether her family was/is rich or not; it's the responsibilities she's never experienced because of the lifestyle they have been able and willing to afford her. Her parents are not poor or working class, either. They had the means to support her luxurious lifestyle for years on end. I don't know of any parents who could afford to indulge a child so much.

She was insulated because she never worked a real day in her life. There is no evidence that she has ever held down a full-time job and I don't believe she worked a part-time one either. Her parents supported her for her entire life, she never understood paying bills, having a budget, renting with some awful flatmate etc. That is the definition of being 'insulated from the real world'.

Put it that way, I agree. So may I qualify my post earlier?  Smiley

In absence of a job, then charity work is the default. there, kate could have been exposed to an aspect of the real world. But Kate does not appear to have experience in that either. That is why I said  family values is a factor, because her parents let her drift off to nothing, except marry Wiliam, all these years.  Even the most vain and lazy people  I know, those who are much better off than Kate's family financially and socially (coming from big landowners or children of industrialists, either new or old money), want to feel good about helping others so if they're not inclined to work, then charity it is. And their parents require them to do either.

================

i haven't read or seen half of WK's gaffes until now, it's unbelievable that I am getting more  and more appalled by her (if it were possible).

on the other hand, she is  alarmingly thin like diana was within the first few months of marrying. we know with diana it was bulimia, most likely driven by her insecurity over Camilla. What's with Kate? An eating disorder because of what?

So many gaffes and she's just halfway through her first year being a royal. Do they not teach her these things at her 'How to be a duchess' lessons?

i thought it was "princess lessons" so maybe they got the curriculum wrong?  Lolipop

I agree with people who said Kate has an "arrested development" due to lack of experiences in the real world.

I understand public speaking is difficult and not everyone has a talent for it. But if Kate has no confidence in public speaking, she should have kept quiet and let Williams field all the questions. In yesterday's interview, she basically said the same thing Williams said but said it in an awkward way. She could have kept her mouth shut or kept the response short. She could observe Williams and learn. But that's now what she did. She doesn't seem lack of confidence even though her public speaking skills are really not up to par.

It would be foolish in this day and age for any blue blood to marry into the BRF.  Honestly, they have nothing to gain, as the scrutiny is just too intense.  Charles was the last one to marry a blue blood, and after that, no one from the aristocracy or upper crust, would dare to marry into that family.  Why do that when you can live in the lap of luxury, and not be judged constantly by the masses.  William was destined to marry someone like Kate.

How about her giggling at New Zealand House when she was supposed to be solemnly paying her respects to NZ's dead after the earthquake.
I think Lazy's needs a thread of its own, but if we're talking about innapropriate smiles: the NZ earthquake visit, the riot visit, the UNICEF visit...

Gaffes ... we'll need someone to take on the official role as Royal Gaffer once Philip
gets too old to gaffe.

I have enjoyed Philip's gaffes so much.
A light hearted bit of politically incorrect language or a misfired slander or a funny compliment
is welcome at many a serious occasion.
Philip deserves an extra huge medal.  And he definitely needs to take his apprentice under his wing and teach Kate the fine art of being rude at the right time.

(The public soon identifies that no malicious intent is meant because the public is clever.)
The public knows that Kate has her heart in the right place so she'd be perfect for the job.

This is a great opportunity for Kate - no wonder she has been hanging out for it for so long.

But Philip is witty, Lazy isn't. Besides, Philip is a hardworking individual. Comparing Philip to Lazy just breaks my heart. Cry I genuinly like Philip.

Star antithesis and rogue and LS
all excellent points

Being from a sheltered life should not always exclude one from having empathy for fellow human beings.
Diana came from equally shlterend and privelaged life-style, but had innate empathy.
You either have it or you don't.
IAMDiana doesn't. its very clear. She needs a lot more work, then originally thought of.
that's the cruel twist of fate, some would say that's weighing heavily on the Republics side Thumb up
Once Lillibet is gone, it won't be the same anymore.
A horrible thought...if UPCHuck were to die of heart-attack, this empty light-bulb would be at the chair Dead

ahh whell...I can always cheer myself up that there is the republic Beer

Loving the chatter here - great thread everyone!

I still think William had to marry her - he would have looked like too much of a cad to leave her dangling for so long, and would have ruined his reputation.  Unfortunately, I don't think marrying her was a great choice either since she doesn't seem to act like the right type of companion for his station and role.

BTW isn't he being shipped off to the Falklands or somewhere soon?  When is that happening?

Heck, she went from sleeping in her childhood bedroom at nearly 30 to marrying into royalty! That says it all.

Her interview was really pathetic - nerves or no nerves. I agree with Heather1229 in that her problem is that she has had no real role - other than waiting waiting waiting and being at Wills' beck and call - for almost 10 years. If she had had a real job where she had to make presentations in meetings or give speeches, or she had been out there - in the trenches volunteering (or doing something, anything) - she would have more confidence and an easier time of being in the public now. Really, giving 3 answers about a cause you supposedly care about shouldn't have been so difficult!! And did you see Wills' face when she was speaking? He looked like he was about to poop his pants!

I think PW looked very annoyed, you can see him rolling his eyes at one point in their interview, certainly not the earnest and concerned look I was expecting to see:

http://www.popsugar.com.a...NICEF-Copenhagen-20248166

Honestly I don't think PW is spectacularly pleased to be with Waity, they certainly don't seem like they are deeply in love.
Waity seems like an anxious puppy always gazing at PW as if the universe revolves around him (I guess for her, it does), but PW doesn't seem to reciprocate the adoration.
I agree with other posters who believe he just settled for her since no decent aristocrat wanted all the media scrutiny and lifelong duties.

I think Kate would rather err on the side of blandness than say something unPC like Prince Philip. Besides, I don't think she's witty enough to come up with these comments.
