I do a lot of photography, and much of that work is portrait  photography. I notice that if I take a straight-on head shot of someone and then draw a line right down the middle of that image, very very very very few people have symmetrical faces and there are more so-called wonky eyes than you would ever suspect. Mary's may be a few degrees more noticeable than some, but her situation is far from unique.

Scientifically speaking, the more symmetrical a face is the more inherently attractive it tends to be on first glance. There is a golden ratio for facial beauty that is fiund amingst those considered most attractive . there are tins of sites now where you can calculate your own symmetry as well as see how you would look if your face was more symetrical. That doesn't just apply to humans other animals such as certain birds are more attractive to potential mates if their feather patterns have a certain amount of symmetry.

A little known part of the Golden Rule is one's cheeks shouldn't be symmetrical with oversized acorns.

Neither a symmetrical nose in the air nor a symmetrical smirk is considered beautiful Clown

OK for reasons of democratic accountability I mashed Mary's face through the Golden Ratio Calculator.

The score varies on the picture (or collagen/botox levels?  Thinking )

I tried three images which scored

6.08/10 6.3/10  7/10

Except one, same conclusions generated each time

- Mary's face has poor horizontal symmetry
- Mary's ears are too long for her nose
- Mary's inner-ocular distance is too big (others say too small) for her eyes
- Mary's nose is too wide for her face width
- Mary's face is too narrow/too long
- Mary's mouth is too wide for her nose

Alexandra scored 8.87/10 because:

- Ratio of her face length to width nearly ideal
- Mouth width to nose width nearly ideal
- Face width to nose width nearly ideal
- Ears too long for nose

Would it add to ones beauty if one were to make sure one's  cheek acorns were equally as wonky as ones eyes?

How she would look better

Cover ears with hair or hats or buckets
Shorter hair to make face look wider
Never smile
In other words, she's just fugly

Tried twice with Marie: 7.68/10  and 7.67

Her inner-ocular distance compared to eye width is nearly ideal.
Ears too long for nose
Nose too wide for face width
Face too narrow

Fred got 8.25  Yikes (2 points higher than his wife, not a good thing)

Inner-ocular distance too big for his eyes
Face width - nose width nearly ideal
Face length - face width nearly ideal
Mouth width to nose width nearly ideal
Ears too long for nose

Joachim 7.65 (perfect match with Marie's score!)

Ears too long for nose
Inner-ocular distance too big for eyes
Face width - nose width nearly ideal
Face length to face width nearly ideal
Mouth too wide for nose

Marge 8.1/10

Face too narrow
Nose too wide for face width
Inner-ocular distance too big for eyes
Good horizontal symmetry
Ears too long for nose

Henrik 7.73/10

Good horizontal symmetry
Nose length - ear length nearly ideal
Inner-ocular distance is too big for eyes
Face width to nose width nearly ideal
Face too wide
Nose too wide for mouth

1. Alexandra 8.9
2. Fred 8.3
3. Marge 8.1
4. Henrik 7.7
5. Marie 7.7
6. Joachim 7.7
7. Mary 6.4

She should just be glad there isn't a calculator for inner beauty because her score would probably be in the negatives.

 Laughing

I saw a TV segment about beauty rating where they worked out how personality affects the rating. People who were nice and friendly in person were regarded as 20% more beautiful than they were when people could only see a still photo. Mean people were rated lower. So Mary's rudeness would put her about 4/10. If she was nice she would be 8/10.

Very entertaining

I canīt believe they all rank so high on the beauty "scale". I mean Marge is  8/10 Dead
I can understand that Marie is around 8...but all the others?

It only takes into account proportions, not mouldy chompers, grey skin or fugly fashion.

I'm going to see how it rates Mary before marriage  Thinking

6.89

7.18

It scores these pictures higher because 'Ratio of face width to nose width nearly ideal' and 'face length to face width nearly ideal'.
