She left the cartier Khedive of Egypt tiara her daughter's wore at their weddings to her youngest daughter Queen Anne Marie with the condition that all her granddaughters (and I suppose her great grand daughters) would be allowed to borrow it for their weddings as well. Ingrid also left the tiara Anne Marie's DiL wore at their weddings. Here's a pic of it on Princess Theodora.

I know she left this diamond and ruby brooch to her grand daughter, Alexia of Greece. Ingrid got it from her MIL, Queen Alexandrine, who recieved the brooch as a wedding gift in 1898.

Thanks Lille! Star  That brooch looks like very similar to the design of the ruby parure Secret  Do you know where Alexia's tiara came from?  Was that also a gift from Ingrid?

I think it's a Greek tiara. It's not from DRF. I know there are alot of Russian jewels in the Greek family so perhaps the tiara originates from Russia.

IIRC Alexia's tiara was a gift from her parents.

I heard Ingrid also left her furnitures collection to her descendants after she passed away and that was one of reasons why Clown couple needed to buy furnitures before moving into her ex residence.

12 anniversary of Queen Ingrid's death

Today, November 7th it is 12 years since the wildly enamored Crown Prince Frederik hurried home from Australia and reached a final goodbye to her grandmother.

At an old age, Queen Ingrid passed on this day 12 years ago - a dignified death in the Chancellery House at Fredensborg castle surrounded by his family.

The 90-year-old queen, who was much loved by both Danish and Swedish royalists for her ability to provide a venue, had taken leave of all her loved ones. Additional noteworthy was the fact that Crown Prince Frederik hurried home from Australia, where he visited his then girlfriend and future wife, Mary, when he heard that his grandmother was close to the end of her life.

Luckily, the Crown Prince the long way home and had said a proper goodbye to Queen Ingrid, who he had a very close relationship with, before she passed away. The funeral took place in Roskilde Cathedral and Queen Ingrid was laid to rest beside her husband, King Frederik 9th, who requested to be buried just outside the church. The king died in 1972.

I really don't get the meaning of this line ``was much loved for her ability to provide a venue.'' What in the world?

I have always had a problem with this grave site - in my eyes it is so depressing. Guess it is because I do not like red tile (Denmark is full of red tile houses - heh)

Queen Ingrids 13th anniversary of her passing - 13 years ago Queen Ingrid died.

In 2000, the Crown Prince did have the chance to come home and say goodbye to his beloved grandmother before Queen Ingrid

Queen Ingrids 13th anniversary of her passing - 13 years ago Queen Ingrid died.

In this picture I think the strong resemblance between Frederik & Daisy (when she was young) can be seen:

And in THIS one, Queen Ingrid's ruby & diamond tiara looks the way it SHOULD look -- all wavy diamond vines and ruby berries -- before that horrible Mary ruined it (for me at least):

Thanks for posting the pics PeDe!    Star
